Next step -- our approved I-600 is now at the US embassy in Ethiopia, according to my Gladney case worker. Hopefully Monday our HIV waiver will be submitted, and 6-10 business days later it should be approved. Then we book travel....
This is soooo cool that you can do it this way!!!!... who woulda thought? Sure would have made our trip a lot easier w/ B. But that's all water under the bridge. :)
Thinking of you and sending you love. I hope this happens for you and that travel dates are soon. It's been so long, so long, so long! I think of you often. Can't wait to hear the final great news!!!
Oh that is GREAT news!!!!!!! FINALLY! I now have permission to communicate w/ our kiddos so I would love it if you are able to take a care package over for us only if you have room. Blessings, Kristy
We have been married for 18 years, blessed with 3 home grown kids and 3 children hand-chosen by God from Ethiopia. On April 14, 2008, we adopted our 4.5 yr old twins at the time. August 14, 2008, we were asked by our agency if we would consider the twins 2 yr old sister, as their mother had recently died. Finally, on Nov. 1, 2009, we got our little girl and we are now this family.
- HIV can NOT be spread through casual/household contact. HIV is not spread through hugging, kissing, shaking hands, sharing toys, sneezing, coughing, sharing food, sharing drinks, bathing, swimming or any other casual way. It has been proven that HIV and AIDS can only be spread through sexual contact, birth, breastfeeding and blood to blood contact (such as sharing needles). - HIV is now considered a chronic but manageable disease. With treatment, people who are HIV+ can live indefinitely without developing AIDS and can live long and full lives. - People who are HIV+ deserve to be treated with love, respect, support and acceptance as all people do. If anyone wants more info on transmission, there is great info on the Center for Disease Control website at http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/factsheets/transmission.htm
