Yes, sweet Cheyenne is gone. Yes, I told the kids we would probably get another dog sometime next fall. Yes, we just got a Beagle named Bo. We got him Friday from a wonderful friend in my prayer group. I was sharing our grief over the loss of Cheyenne at my prayer group (an incredible group of women I am SO blessed to do life with) and hours later I was bringing home Bo to "test drive" him with our family. I am such a sucker.
Also, we are on to another layer of attaching. The past couple days the twins have been wondering about breast feeding. I have a feeling they nursed up until they had to say goodbye to their Ethiopian mother in December. My first response as they started to reach for me was "sweetie, that is private" until I recognized this was probably a bonding layer as they feel more connected with me, so I have been pretty open to them. I informed them that Mommy's milk is all gone, then yesterday Kume cracked me up when she hit the nail on the head. My dear daughter ultimately declared, "Lots of milk -- BIG, milk all gone -- LITTLE," using both her voice and hand gestures for emphasis and clarity. Okay, okay, they're little.

Wow, that is so interesting and funny. Sounds like you are uncovering something new everyday with the twins.
That is hilarious!!! My new boys are both facinated with my b**bs too - especially the little guy. They say something that sounds like "totos" and think it is so funny. I do have a feeling they were breast fed a long time and that talking/laughing about "totos" must be a common thing in their culture!
You can't make that stuff up! Kids are precious..it's fun to see the world through their eyes.
jill :)
Awesome Awesome Awesome. You are SO FUNNY. And yes you are a sucker :).
With little ones. me too.
You know, this is why you are the perfect mom for these kiddos. You THINK and care about all this. That is a huge difference. And it helps them immeasurably, even when it pushes you out of your comfort zone. What a great mom you are, regardless of size! ha!
Oh my gosh...that is the funniest story!!! I love that you took what could have been an annoying issue and have realized that this is a unique stage in your kids "process" of adjusting to you. Good luck! And enjoy the new dog...my parents just got one and it's like having another child in the family...and at times even MORE work! :)
Ahhh... I had heard that something like this could happen! Good thing to know that it really does; something I'll be paying attention to when Blessing arrives! That is really great that attachment is well under way. :) Congrats on the new doggie!
:)! I love the things kids come up with!
That is hilarious!!!! It was great camping with you this weekend. Bo is cute!
I love your stories. My kids have really enjoyed seeing how the little ones have come right into the fold.
If you want to breastfeed, you can take domperidone 10 mg (?twice a day?). I had little milk production after our daughter was born. My ob/gyn recommended it to me. I had to order it from overseas (doesn't require a written rx), off the internet from Inhouse Pharmacy. It was cheap and from a dependable source. (I am a pharmacist, if that makes you feel any better.) I quit breastfeeding when my daughter was a little over 9 months old. You may consider doing it, unless you think the twins are too old.
Hi! My name is Joanna and I have commented on your site before. I was just wondering if you knew anywhere to send me online that could help me learn more about adoption. My hubby just gave me the go ahead to start looking into it!
Hi there Buttercup!
